Fraudulent elections are underway in Sudan. In the months leading up to them there has been violence, intimidation, and outright neglect of CPA requirements to make them Free and Fair. Bombings continue to fall in Jabel Marra and the UN has yet to make an assessment since violence first broke out weeks ago. Opposition parties have withdrawn leaving Omar al-Bashir as the candidate set to win. Observers have pulled out of Darfur completely, and many more stations have more men with guns telling them who to vote for than eyes to observe irregularities.

These elections are not and cannot be free and fair. Yet, our own government continues to support elections as an important step towards a new future for Sudan. A new future with the same old leader who has committed mass atrocities across the Sudan?
