DGA Dec 9th & 10th Action

On Dec 9th and 10th, the anniversaries of the Genocide Convention and the Universal Declaration of Human rights respectively, DGA was in action.  On the 9th, it was out at the Federal Building in Los Angeles, CA.  It set up a huge screen and projected images of survivors during rush hour at a busy Wilshire Boulevard intersection.

On Dec 10th, it delivered (implanted!) hundreds of Genocide Edition front pages of the LA Times in bins all over downtown Los Angeles.

More DGA to come!

Universal Declaration of Human Rights

We should be patient, I guess...ummm, nah! People are dying! Dec 10th is the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Today, Dec 9th, is the 60th anniversary of Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Both of them great stuff...on paper! I am sure that both are considered widely as monumental achievements for the human race, but it takes real, breathing humans to make them work and save lives in practice. We've been waiting for 60 years!

We have to get loud people! Let's DGA today and tomorrow...and the days after. Stop Genocide Now has some good ACTIONS going on for tomorrow, but we have to take it a step further. Print those posters and plaster them all over your community. Fax them to Congress, the White House, and the Sudanese Embassy.

So, start with SGN's suggestion and pick one of the girls or women on the posters below and wear it pinned to your clothing all day on Dec 10th, and then get creative and do more!

You still have a chance to change your legacy. No more words and token action. Americans are in solidarity with the people of Darfur. DGA @ MLB

In cities with millions of people, as Darfur activists, we get happy when we get a couple of hundred to attend an event for which we spent weeks or even months preparing and working for.  Events are important and need to be done, but we also need to go to where the people already are!

In the coming weeks, Major League Baseball playoffs give us a great opportunity for DGA!  Thousands of people attend and millions watch the ball being batted around a field.  Let's find ways to use these national gatherings to create awareness.

Any DGA agents from LA, Boston, Chicago, Tampa Bay and other cities that will make the playoffs up for some action at the ballpark?

We can poster area, mass-flier cars in parking-lots, street theater, and more.

One DGAgent sent suggestion for night games: find buildings or even large walls on the outside of ballpark and guerrilla project Darfur images.

Other ideas?

Another DGAgent suggested that we declare Darfur our national priority.  We the people of the US declare that Darfur is our priority and will find the right way to work with the world to solve the problem...now!  Let's use the national pastime to declare our national priority!

Feel free to comment or shoot us an email.

Cause it's one, two, three strikes and your out at the old ball game!

DGAgents Wanted!

We might not be able to move the masses, or maybe we have not found the way.  But, as a movement, do we keep doing the same old thing, over and over again?  Some can do that, but others must push the limits and find new strategic ways to create action on Darfur.

We can't continue to always be nice to our leaders, when they could have saved hundreds of thousands of lives, IF they had seriously acted years ago.  They knew genocide was taking place in Darfur back in 2003!  It is now 2008!

After Rwanda, what the fuck!!!?

We have to get in their faces and show how morally bankrupt of a system we have, if it allows women and girls to be raped, entire families killed, villages destroyed, and lives to wither in the desert during five long years.

DGA is about anyone that cannot be OK with business as usual.  Be a DGAgent!  Let's make the face of the Darfur be seen.  Let's make the voice of Darfur be heard.  Let's be loud!
